PLA+
The easiest material to print well — great for anything decorative, display-worthy, or indoors.
PLA+ is a reinforced version of standard PLA (itself made from corn starch) — rigid, prints with crisp detail, holds color vividly, and warps far less than most other materials. It's the most forgiving material to print, which is why it's the default choice for the majority of what we make.
- Decorative pieces and novelty items
- Gifts, desk accessories, display models
- Prototypes and fit-check parts
- Anything staying indoors, at room temperature
- Parts exposed to heat above ~60°C (a hot car interior, for example)
- Long-term outdoor or UV exposure
- High-impact or flexible applications
PETG
The durable, functional choice — better suited to parts that actually have to hold up to something.
PETG is the same family of plastic used in a lot of food and beverage packaging. It's noticeably tougher and more impact-resistant than PLA, holds up better to heat and sunlight, and handles moisture well. The tradeoff is it's a little trickier to print — slightly more prone to fine stringing — which is why we've spent real time dialing in our specific settings for it.
- Functional parts that need to survive real use
- Outdoor parts, or anything exposed to sun/weather
- Parts that need some flex instead of being fully rigid
- Anything that might get bumped, dropped, or stressed
- Extremely fine, delicate surface detail
- Applications needing maximum dimensional precision
- Very high-temperature environments
